2014 started with a bang with a national tour from Wanaka all the way to Kerikeri. I have some busy months ahead of me with concerts and some festivals. Later in the year I’ll play in Europe again, as well as walking my eldest daughter down the aisle in Florence, Italy!
Due to popular demand I have added some additional “Ubana Sings Dylan” shows so if you haven’t seen it yet, don’t miss out and check the tour dates that will continuously be added to the website and facebook. Hope to see you there!
2013 has been a celebration! It’s been another busy year touring and another creative year musically. This being my 40th year as a professional musician puts a magic to the spin of time. Since 1973 I have chased the by-ways and high-ways with a song in my head and then in my heart. Along the way you meet all kinds – the good the sad.. and the rest. Makes this journey eternally interesting and very rewarding.
My summer dates are now up on my website. Have a look and tell your friends. It is going to be great being back on the road again with 2 NEW knees! I am ready to bring you my latest songs to a venue near you and of course a very special series of shows at the Playhouse Cafe in Nelson over the new years period. Keep music live! “May you stay forever Young”
Paul is recovering well after his second knee reconstruction operation. Paul says “The recent Songbook & Six String NZ tour with Bryce Wastney was amazing. We played well together and the live DVD recording in Nelson will be a great project to work on and release in 2014. We are both very excited and motivated to do more tours like this.”
Paul will be one of the headline acts performing at the International Jazz & Blues Festivals in Queenstown over Labour weekend.

So far the tour is going well. People are loving the new format and this week Paul and Bryce focus on shows in the lower South Island.
Paul did some lectures about songwriting with the students at Otago Uni incl a lunch time concert. Carey’s Bay Historic Hotel had an intimate feel as the rain beat down on the roof. With gas heaters, fairy lights and retro lamps the atmosphere was magic. This weekend it’s Dunedin on Saturday night and then Wanaka on Sunday eve.
The Nelson show, which was recorded and filmed live went extremely well. The concert DVD and live CD will be edited over the summer and released 2014. Join the mailing list to keep in the loop.
Tickets are selling now so get in quick. Most venues have limited door sales available. (details on both of our websites)
Had a great show at the Vic cinema. Okurukuru Winery was packed out!
Read the gig review by Patrick Kilmartin – The Vic Cinema, Auckland September 2013
“These two troubadours delighted our local crowd here at The Vic, regaling us with an intimate show of warm, soulful folk, book-ended by humorous yet sincere storytelling. Warming up for what should be an interesting national tour, Jones and Wastney, like true musicians, have melded their respective solo acts into an interesting collaboration sparking both compositional interpretation and musical repertoires. Throughout the show, old and new songs were traded, restyled and freshly examined in a way that ultimately made it an authentic and enjoyable performance for all concerned. We wish them luck on the road and hope to see them again next time.”
Can’t wait to hit the road with my friend Bryce Wastney, who is a fabulous singer/songwriter from Nelson who has been rising in the ranks and has written some beautiful songs. We will play our own versions of each other’s songs and tell some hilarious stories that will make you cry with laughter (or shock).”
Keep an eye out for us on the Good Morning Breakfast TV show on Wednesday Sept 4. You can easily book your tickets now from both of our websites.
